doing in mission to God’s people locally, and across the world. The Balkans holds a place in my heart; perhaps because I saw so much suffering there when I was on active duty. I was very excited when we at CUMC began exploring whether we should enter into a covenant relationship with a Global Ministries missionary, and Carol Partridge was on our “short list.” As we began corresponding with Carol, she seemed like the right “fit” for CUMC.
After she visited us last spring, I was convinced that God had led us to her. Kim and I were also very moved to explore the possibility of heading up a CUMC mission trip to Macedonia to help Carol out with VBS, general labor, or wherever else she might need a helping hand. We were looking at summer 2007, but unfortunately we will not be able to commit to organizing a mission trip this summer. Our mission team still would like to encourage a trip such as this, and would like to know if anyone in our CUMC congregation would be interested in leading a trip to Macedonia during the summer months. If you are interested, please give me or Rev. Judy a call to discuss possibilities Gordon Crom,

Dear friends and family,
I am happy to be home again in Strumica, Macedonia. As many of you know, from February 8 until May 12, 2009 I was in the US, visiting my Covenant churches as well as many other churches interested in hearing about Macedonia. I was privileged to visit churches in Georgia, California, Nevada, Colorado, Wyoming and Utah. Here in Strumica, the weather is warm and our street is full of children playing; many of them come to Saturday English classes and Sunday school. Lee and I enjoy sitting on our balcony in the early evening hearing their laughter and chatter. Lee has been busy working on other writing, so he is taking a break from writing his weekly review. For the time being, you will have to rely on my observations and photos. My web site was updated last month. Please see www.carolpartridge.com for a new newsletter (May 09 - 3 pages), new photos and prayer requests. I am using a new way to reach you - a list server. It should be faster and more efficient, allowing me to communicate with you more often. Other news... You can listen to a pod cast about my work in Macedonia, made by me last August at this web address: http://new.gbgm-umc.org/work/missionaries/podcasts/index.cfm?i=26511 You can hear a guitar performance by one of my star English students and Sunday school participant, Gligor Tasev (on the right) at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgppjNy_m8E Gligor is finishing seventh grade. In another year, he wants to go to a music high school and study guitar. A few months ago, while I was still in the US, Lee was up on the hill above Strumica where archeologists are digging. He was visiting the site when an important discovery was made: two clay jars containing more than 4000 mediaeval coins dating back to the second half of the 12th and the beginning of the 13th centuries. You can see a news broadcast about this find on the web, at this address: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euZ5VRVkhLg&NR=1 This will also give you a sample of Macedonian language, with an English translation. A busy summer is ahead of us. Plans are underway for visits of VIM volunteers, Vacation Bible School, camp for children with special needs, and youth camp. May your summer be blessed with good health, safe travels and fun activities.
