Developing God's Habits

Some people continuously act on impulse, grabbing at whatever seems attractive at the moment.  Now some spontaneity is healthy, but when we face all of life with a senseless striving to satisfy our impulses, we defeat ourselves.

We sometimes do what is expedient at the time.  Why do we wait until company  comes over to really clean our house?  Why is it best to put things off that were  important yesterday but not today?  One day my parents told me to clean the kitchen  floor.  I wanted to go to the school playground and play basketball.  My rationale was that to play and practice basketball, which would allow me to make the school team, this had priority over cleaning the kitchen floor that could wait for the weekend.  We may postpone working out conflicts, even with ourselves, because it is painful to face our weaknesses.  We need to make better conscious decisions in order to change.  Our aim is to develop Godly habits that result in Godly living.

After listening to some suggestions from the congregation, here will be some changes that I am working on: working in more detail with ministry teams’ projects of the church.  I have posted my office hours with specific direction on setting up  appointments.  Family counseling is available.    All persons wanting to get a stronger insight on the morning message are invited to attend my adult Sunday School class.  Our goal is to discuss the scripture text for the sermon that day.

Developing Godly habits will come from prayer and growing close to God in our Christian faith journey.

“By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”  (Hebrews 11:2)
