A Place to Begin...Belong...Become
Macedonia MissionDear Friends and Family,
Today the children that I work with in the Strumica UMC led the morning church service, in honor of Mother's Day. They did a fine job: leading prayers, reading Scriptures, singing, presenting an interesting drama. I was very proud of them. You can see photos of the service at this web address: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=180420&id=1095500209&l=ddc32045ee (You do not have to belong to Facebook to open this link.) Please pray for us as we plan summer activities for youth and children, including children with special needs. Of course, finances are always a deciding factor. Many thanks to those of you who support my work with your prayers and financial gifts. Blessings, Carol Dear Friends and Family,
The date of our first summer camp for the children from the Sunday schools was changed to June 25 - 30, so we suddenly got even busier. Fifty children, aged 9 - 14, attended, along with 13 helpers. We all had a lovely time in the beautiful setting on the shore of Lake Ohrid. The children enjoyed lessons on the theme “God, the Creator of Everything”, plus games and puzzles, skits, songs, sports and beach time. You can see photos from the camp at the church web site www.emc-umc.org.mk. I am happy to report that sponsors were found for our camp for 90 children with special needs. The camp starts today and will last a week. I prepared the materials for lessons and arts and crafts and have sent them off with the youth from our church who are in charge of those parts of the program. Temperatures are cooler now and we are enjoying summer’s delights. Children laugh and play on our street. We smell and taste the fragrant sweet apricots neighbors have given us from their trees. Brilliant blue morning glories bloom on our balcony. God is good. May your summer be blessed. - Carol Carol Partridge GBGM Missionary United Methodist Church Strumica, R Macedonia News From Macedonia Dear friends and family,
My web page has been updated. Please see www.carolpartridge.com for a current newsletter (March 2010), new prayer needs and photos in an interesting new format. After many days of overcast, snow and rain, the sun was very welcome today. Fields are too wet for planting. We look forward to spring. The children are rehearsing several times a week; we are preparing six short dramas for Easter. Five are events from the life of Jesus and one is contemporary. The children will also sing and recite verses. We hope to have a summer camp in July for children from our Sunday schools. The children are excited about this possibility. Rada and her daughter Elena, mentally challenged and impoverished Meals on Wheels recipients, have a newly renovated house, with running water and a bathroom. What a joy to be a part of this improvement in their situation. Lee is making progress in his study of Macedonian; he is eager to speak to all the neighbors and shopkeepers. Thank you all for your interest and support. You are a blessing!
